Dr. Matt Avrit
Dr. Matt Avrit was born and raised here in Nashville, TN, where he graduated from Goodpasture High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University in 1998.
He worked for General Electric and BASF before returning to school, earning his DMD degree from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 2007. Dr. Avrit was accepted into an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program with the United States Air force at David Grant Medical Center, where he received specialized training in advanced dental techniques.
For the next three years, Dr. Avrit was the Deputy Commander of the 42d Dental Flight at Maxwell AFB, AL, earning multiple awards and recognition’s including the 2009 Squadron Officer of the Year. During that time, he was responsible for handling all of the difficult and advanced cases that came through the clinic.
Now more than ever, people of all ages are taking steps to have the healthiest, most beautiful smiles possible. Dr. Avrit is highly trained and extremely experienced in all aspects of general, surgical, and cosmetic dentistry. He is constantly taking high-level continuing education classes given by the top teachers in the dental field.
Dr. Avrit currently resides in Brentwood with his wife and two children. In his spare time, he enjoys working on cars and working out at his CrossFit gym.
Dr. Alicia Johnson, DDS
Dentist
Dr. Alicia Johnson is a proud native of Franklin, TN, who grew up in the McKay's Mill neighborhood and is a graduate of Page High School. She began her education at Emory University, where she earned a double major in Biology and Religious Studies. Dr. Johnson then received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, College of Dentistry.
She is a dedicated member of both the American Dental Association and the Tennessee Dental Association. Dr. Johnson is passionate about the art of dentistry and enjoys connecting with new people.
This office holds a special meaning for her as she's been a patient of Dr. Avrit's since 2012. She is truly honored and thrilled to now be practicing at her home dental office.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Johnson’s favorite place to be is with her family. She also enjoys tackling home projects with her husband and winding down at the end of the day by watching a good TV show.
Brenna
Registered Dental Hygienist
Brenna has been in the dental field since she started with McKay’s Mill Dental in 2009 and loves working here! One of the many reasons she loves her job is her amazing patients and the relationships she’s formed with them over the years.
Brenna is a native of Graham, Washington, and travels there frequently to spend time with her family, including her sweet nieces and nephews. She also has a great love for live music and has traveled to new places to see a concert of a band she enjoys.
Samantha
Office Manager
Samantha has been part of McKay’s Mill Dental team since 2015. She loves dentistry and Dr. Avrit so much she went from being his assistant to the office manager. She loves to see the patients happy.
In her free time, Samantha loves to spend time with her Grand daughter Jnaya.
Vanecia
Patient Coordinator
Vanecia holds an Associate of Science from Nashville State Community College and a Bachelors's degree in biology from Tennessee State University. She additionally attended Kaplan College, where she received her dental assisting degree.
Vanecia worked at McKay’s Mill Dental several years ago, and we are happy to have her back on a full-time basis! The best part of the job for Vanecia is seeing the boost in confidence a patient gets after having their smiles transformed.
A native of Murfreesboro, Vanecia has lived in Nashville since she was seven years old. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, roller skating, and spending time with her two children.
